About The Artist

Born in Roedovre Denmark, 1964, Peter Clausen holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Peter’s interest for Astronomy came at the age of 14 when his 9th grade class visited an observatory in Copenhagen and was able to spot the rings around Saturn. This is when his passion for Astronomy was born.

Peter’s other interests included competitive bicycle racing, which he did from 1979-1990. He won various competitions and even competed in the Olympics (representing Denmark) in 1988.

While enjoying an extensive accomplishment in landscape photography, Peter applied this knowledge to Astrophotography in 2007. From that point, Peter was determined to develop the skills necessary in order to master the technical challenge in producing images of the universe. Completely self-instructed, Peter’s research (in a relatively short period of time) led to having his images featured at:

Peter has also assisted in publishing Astronomy books with Anja Andersen, a well-known Astrophysicist from Denmark’s Niels Bohr Institute. Anja Andersen is also using Peter’s Astrophotography images in her scientific presentations and public workshops. Further, Peter Clausen’s images have also won numerous international Astrophotography Imaging Awards from 2007-2008.

Presently, Peter is a member of the Akron Astronomy Club. While Peter is presently a project manager by day, he “manages” his clear nights by capturing heavenly and wondrous images from the driveway of his home with his wife Leslie…right here in Summit County, Ohio.

Enjoy!
